Safety Remains The Top Priority for Janitronics Building Services: 30-Hour OSHA Training Recap

For the team at Janitronics Building Services, safety isn’t just another checklist—it’s a vital part of the company’s culture.

With over 1,600 employees, most of whom are in janitorial field positions, safety is a cornerstone of Janitronics’ business. The company is deeply committed to maintaining safe working conditions that provide both clients and employees with hazard-free workspaces.

Employees receive the safest possible equipment and supplies while training and development programs focus on the safe and efficient use of resources.

Janitronics employees also receive training on OSHA (Occupational Safety and Health Administration) protocols and regulations. In the United States, all employers are required to comply with OSHA’s standards. The mission of OSHA is to “assure America’s workers have safe and healthful working conditions free from unlawful retaliation.”

OSHA’s mission has become deeply ingrained in Janitronics’ environment as the team puts forth a universal message of safety in everything they do. Yet, even with an impressive foundation of safety, Janitronics continues to raise the bar higher and enhance its standards.

The company showed its commitment to enhancing safety protocols when twelve members of the management team attended a 30-hour OSHA training program in June. The OSHA 30 certification is a comprehensive training program designed to provide supervisors and managers with in-depth knowledge of workplace safety and health standards.

The training is divided into four sessions, covering various safety topics to enhance team competency. The modules included:

  • fire safety
  • chemical disposal
  • emergency preparedness
  • electrical safety

The training was led by Joseph P. Ceccarelli of Safety Trainers. Janitronics participants said the trainer was exceptional because he made it engaging and interesting. He also tailored the sessions to Janitronics, which allowed the participants to learn practical applications of safety measures relevant to their work.

Topics included everything from job hazard analyses and high-risk tasks to hazard recognition and prevention. Participants gained valuable insights into OSHA’s processes, procedures, and compliance requirements. These discussions were highly beneficial, according to Ray Rizik, Janitronics’ Director of Operations – Life Sciences.

“The topics were discussed in depth so that we could learn the root cause of an issue, how to solve it, and the protocols we could put in place,” Rizik explained.

With this training under his belt, Rizik explains that he is now considered competent in the four modules and able to perform certain activities, which ultimately benefits both clients and staff.

Mike Gesamondo, an Account Manager at the Prudential Center, agrees: “We want everyone to go home safely. We don’t want any injuries, and I know our clients don’t want that either, so we’re trying to do what’s best for us, our employees, and our clients.”

The twelve participants, all of whom are managers and senior-level leaders, will take their learnings back to their employees. They can talk through the modules with their staff and create more awareness around safety measures. It also enables Janitronics to remain an employer of choice by prioritizing safe and hazard-free working conditions.

As Gesamondo sees it, this training is also just one more component of the Janitronics’ advantage. By bringing this knowledge to job sites, Janitronics can help clients streamline their safety management measures. Clients can become less reliant on multiple contractors, which reduces logistical burdens and results in cost savings.

The OSHA 30-hour training was one of three sessions the company is conducting for management staff.

“This initiative reflects our strong commitment to empowering employees to maintain a safe work environment while also supporting their professional growth,” explained Erica Cullinan, Director of Training and Employee Experience.
