Janitronics Partners with Second Chances to Support the Greater Boston
This July, Janitronics Building Services partnered with Second Chances, a local nonprofit. Second Chances is dedicated to providing free clothing, shoes, and accessories to individuals and families experiencing poverty, housing instability, and crisis. They focus on Cambridge, Somerville, Boston, and surrounding communities in Greater Boston.
Our Partnership with Second Chances
As part of the partnership, Janitronics employees participated in a month-long clothing drive, donating gently used clothing, shoes, and accessories to support Second Chances’ mission. Together, employees contributed more than 600 pounds of donated items. Janitronics also made a $1,000 contribution to help support the organization’s ongoing programs and services.
For many individuals in Greater Boston, gaining access to clean, seasonally appropriate clothing can make a meaningful difference. Whether preparing for a job interview, moving into permanent housing, returning to work, or simply meeting everyday needs, appropriate clothing helps provide confidence, dignity, and a foundation for new opportunities.
How Second Chances Helps Greater Boston
Founded in 2003, Second Chances works through a network of more than 25 local Boston and Massachusetts area shelters, housing agencies, and social service organizations to ensure donated clothing reaches those who need it most. Their partners include organizations such as CASPAR/Bay Cove, the Somerville Homeless Coalition, Cambridge Housing Authority, and Transition House, allowing Second Chances to distribute clothing directly through trusted community organizations already serving local residents.
The organization’s work also supports environmental sustainability by keeping thousands of pounds of reusable clothing and textiles out of local landfills each year. Through this combination of community support and responsible reuse, Second Chances creates a positive impact for both people and the environment.
